Residential units often require Access Independent’s occupational therapy service to assist with assessments for such requirements as redesign or refurbishment of the facilities to suit the needs of all the residents, individual assessments of residents and assessment of risk for residents and carers within the unit. This can include training in manual handling techniques.

Following the assessment, the OT will prepare a comprehensive report, including details and pricing of equipment or adaptations to housing, if required. All assessments are checked by one of our OT managers before being sent to the referrer, in order to ensure that the quality and consistency of the reports suits the guidelines agreed at the start of the contract.

A joint visit can also be made with a representative of the equipment manufacturer to trial the equipment before the purchase is made.
