Access Independent helps social services and public sector OT departments to reduce waiting list pressures by providing a team of OTs who work on a case-by-case basis. We only offer HPC Registered OTs, who are experienced in social services and other public sector work and are therefore able to gain a quick understanding of procedures and policies.

A survey by a London borough has shown that the service provided by Access Independent is more cost-effective than employing locums. Experienced therapists are always available, as they appreciate the flexible work pattern, while local authorities can save management time because we manage the cases for them if required.

Examples of services available include:

o Assessment only, with your area team following up requests for equipment or minor works
o Assessment and follow up, including trialling specialist equipment and visiting with a contractor to discuss or check minor works
o Assessment, recommendations and follow-up for major adaptations including
- Providing an OT to visit a service user with an architect or
surveyor, in order to agree the feasibility of a scheme
- Preparing detailed design specifications for grants offices
- Checking plans and schedules of works for agreed adaptations
